Pop-up, food truck, pedicab, pre-packaged and sold wholesale to stores?
These are a handful of options Janny, Carrie, VA, and I have been throwing around in terms of figuring out
how to get our product out to the masses in this concept testing phase.
In your opinion, which of the above is the stronger choice for a young start-up like our own? We’re all obviously leaning super heavily towards the pop-up space, but i can see the benefits of flexibility the others afford. Maybe the answer is even a combo of two?
Things to take into account: the financial situation of the start-up, the size of the team, the target market. Broodjes is currently low on funding but planning to Kickstart the effort in the very near future, we can roll with anywhere from 3-6 individuals depending on the context, and our target market is the sandwich loving community of DC.
What do you guys think?
Don’t know Netherlands broodje, but if anything like Suriname’s, you’ll have me there!
Excellent! There will definitely be some delicious overlap
you a big fan of the broodje Pom?
Hey Frim!
I don’t know about DC, but food trucks are always a really popular thing in Boston especially with the students! There are food trucks (taking up parking spaces…) by Boston University (where I go to school) and by Boston College (where I live) and they always have students and professors at them. I am assuming a food truck can be pretty expensive… but it is just something I noticed!
Hope this helps!
Hi there! I also went to MHC (I think we may have had a class together), and I found the link to your site through another MoHo. First, I think this is quite brilliant! Your concept is fantastic and your broodjes look absolutely delicious! I’ll have to come check out your stand at Union Market! Congratulations to you and your team for launching your own start-up!
Also, here’s a thought — I work at a mid-size law firm here in DC, and we often cater luncheons and happy hours for about 20-30 people at a time. I know many other firms host similar types of events. Would you be interested in catering events such as these? If so, perhaps you can forward me your menu/pricing options (finder (dot) brittany (at) gmail (dot) com). I can then pass it along to the person in charge of catering at my office, and if it works out, you may have a regular client. Please do touch base if you’re interested, and best of luck to you moving forward!
I mean, Silver Sporks at Eastern Market, not Union Market — Sorry!
Let’s definitely talk! We’re always looking for opportunity and that could be a great one. I’ll shoot you a note later today!! Thanks for the support
